EXPERIENCE
Marie Maurice is a Partner and trial attorney specializing in Labor & Employment, Transportation/Logistics and General Liability litigation. Since joining Ivie McNeill Wyatt Purcell & Diggs in 2010, she has prosecuted and defended business disputes, employment disputes, real property disputes, premises liability, auto accidents, bankruptcy adversary proceedings, and bank fraud cases in both state and federal courts. Ms. Maurice has first-chaired criminal and civil jury trials to verdict. She is responsible for all aspects of litigation including appellate work.

Ms. Maurice’s work involves a heavy law and motion practice. Ms. Maurice has extensive experience writing motions for summary judgment in employment and general liability matters and filing writs of mandamus, when necessary. Recently, Ms. Maurice filed a writ on behalf of a commercial trucking company challenging the trial court’s good faith determination which barred the commercial trucking company’s claim against the other defendant. The Second District Court of Appeal reversed the trial court’s determination, finding the settlement agreement was void.
In addition to litigation, Ms. Maurice advises and counsels clients concerning personnel matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination as well as compliance with state and federal laws in matters involving intrastate and interstate travel. Ms. Maurice’s services include workplace investigations in employment matters, scene investigations in general liability matters and working with clients to develop strategies for mitigating and resolving legal actions.
Ms. Maurice is a long standing member of the John M. Langston Bar Association, a non-profit, serving the needs of the African American attorneys, judges, law students and community in the Los Angeles area. She currently serves as a Past-President of the organization. Throughout the years, she has created and/or organized numerous panel discussions and events seeking to educate, mentor and provide access to Black attorneys and law students including, but not limited to: Young Lawyers Career Fair, Speed Mentoring & Networking Reception, Silicon Beach Technology and Entertainment Diversity Initiative (at Google, full day CLE), Langston Law Institute (full day CLE with Black faculty), and CLE 101 Series on various legal topics.
Ms. Maurice has participated in numerous speaking engagements discussing legal issues with practicing attorneys and providing encouragement to law students and youth.
